The GPD XD handheld gamer looks to be a powerhouse of a Android-based portable gaming device. Here’s the lowdown on the hardware and the emulators it runs. The GPD XD boasts a quad-core CPU paired with a Mali-t764 graphics chipset. The base model has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built in storage. The second tier hardware increases storage to 32GB. A 5″ screen with 1280×720 resolution on a system running Android 4.4 is an awesome feature that’s easy on the eyes.
Two thumbsticks, a d-pad, two shoulder buttons and four right hand buttons control gameplay, and the included 6000mah battery should keep the games playing a couple of hours.
For emulation of gamesystems, the hardware specs claim to be able to emulate the following systems:
- Gameboy Color
- and several arcade systems
The only drawback appears to be wireless connectivity as some reviewers have had flaky results with it.
